KATHUA, June 13: In order to curb the menace of illicit distillation of liquor, the Excise Department Jammu has tightened its noose on violators of the various provisions of the J&K Excise Act in entire Jammu division.
The Excise sleuths on the directions of the Excise Commissioner, Mohd. Javed Khan and supervision of Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive), Jammu, Ghanshyam Singh, the Excise Team Kathua led by ETO Excise Range Kathua, Sandeep Gupta, Inspectors Excise Arun Kumar & Shadi Lal along with Excise staff raided the Chartyala, Labhuchak, Barnoti & Chakdrabkhan areas of Kathua district to arrest the menace of illicit distillation of liquor.
In the process one working still, 5 bottles of illicit liquor & more than 1850 kilograms of lahan, raw material for illicit liquor which is highly hazardous and injurious to health were recovered by the raiding team from State land and later destroyed on spot.
