JAMMU, Sept 19: An Exhibition – cum -lecture was organized by the Department of Environmental Sciences, Gove-rnment College for Women, Parade, here today.
Chief guest on the occasion was Dr Geetanjali Andotra Rana, Principal GCW Parade while Dr. Deepshikha Sharma of GDC Kathua and Dr Neha Sharma of GCW Gandhinagar were the guests of honour.
Dr Deepshikha Sharma delivered a detailed lecture on Vermicomposting while Dr. Neha Sharma sensitised the students about Solid Waste Management Rules. The students of the department also presented their views on Solid Waste Management.
The theme of the exhibition was “To create best out of waste”. The students showcased exhibition on craft items made from newspapers, plastic bottles and other wastes.
Principal, Dr. Geetanjali Andotra Rana also spoke on hazards of solid waste and appreciated the efforts of students in creating best out of waste.
At the outset, Dr. Arti Sharma, HOD, Department of Environ-mental Sciences, GCW Parade, presented a welcome address.
The vote of thanks was presented by Dr Shalini Sharma. The faculty members of the Department, Prof Upasana and Prof. Pawar extended their unflinching support in Organ-izing the event.
Other staff members, who were present on the occasion, included Prof Seema Arshad Mir, Dr Sushnma Mahajan, Prof Tabassum Ara, Prof Jyotsana Mohan and a galaxy of other professors.
