POONCH, Feb 14: An exhibition match between Sham Lal Hockey Club (Girls) and Power House Hockey Club (Boys) was played in the memory of Sham Lal Sharma, a retired SAI Hockey coach at Sports Stadium, here today.
DDC Chairperson Poonch, Tazeem Akhter was the chief guest, who gave away the prizes and playing kits to both girls and boys sponsored by Sham Lal Hockey Club Poonch. Speaking to the teams and other distinguished gatherings, the chief guest praised the former SAI Hockey coach, Sham Lal for his dedication and contributions for taking hockey to new heights especially among women.
He mentioned that due to selfless efforts of Sham Lal that Poonch hockey has earned a name in J&K with the result the Government decided to give the place state of the Art Astroturf at Poonch. He assured that the ongoing laying down of Synthetic Hockey Astro Turf will be completed in stipulated time frame.
He also appreciated the management of the Club for organising such events and motivating girls to participate in games and sports.
BDC Member Lassana Noor Jahan, President Mahila Morcha BJP Poonch Sehweta Sharma, Narjeet Singh (Retd ZPEO) and Priyanka Singh were the guests of honour.
Pervesh Kumar, Amita Sharma, Amresh Kumar (PEM) Ravinder Singh, Narinder Singh (PEM), Rajinder Singh Toofan, Sourav Sharma, Neeraj Sharma and many others were present during the event.
The event was organised by Sham Lal Hockey Club Poonch and Power House Hockey Poonch under the aegis of Hockey J&K which was technically supervised by Mukesh Kumar (Hockey coach) and Navjot Singh (Coach).
