DODA, Nov 9: To review the ongoing preparations of the District Administration Doda for the smooth, free and fair conduct of the General Elections scheduled to be held in the District on November 25, General Observer Bhaderwah Assembly Constituency Bhupinder Singh Bhalla and General Observer Doda Dev Raj Dev today visited District Headquarters Doda and convened a high level meeting of officers.
General Observers while reviewing the preparedness for the upcoming elections, emphasized on the free, fair and peaceful conduct of elections as per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India. Mr. Bhalla directed all the officers to strictly adhere to the guidelines of ECI. He expressed concern over the conditions of some of the Polling Stations and instructed DEO Doda and RO concerned to take up the matter with Education and other partner Departments to ensure that basic minimum facilities are available at each and every Polling Station.
Regarding the Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) activities in the District, Mr. Bhalla highlighted the need to cover Higher Educational Institutions especially University Campus, Polytechnic Colleges and ITIs in the District which mostly have young and first time voters to target. He also reviewed the progress of EPIC coverage, PER coverage and EP ratio in the District.
On violations of certification through Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) and Paid News cases, he directed the MCMC Doda to report the DEO with a copy to the General Observer of the respective Assembly Constituency.
While reviewing the progress made in the inquiries of the Model Code of Conduct Violations in the District, Mr. Bhalla expressed concern over the slow pace of progress and directed the concerned Nodal Officer to expedite the inquiry process and complete it in shortest possible time. Other issues like posting of local officers, dispatch of polling parties, vulnerability mapping of the area, law and order execution, functioning of various teams/ cells, besides Transport Plan, Security Plan, Communication Plan, Contingency Plan and Deployment plan were also discussed in detail.
Earlier, District Election Officer (Deputy Commissioner ) Doda Shyam Vinod Meena gave a detail account of District profile and activities performed by the District Administration regarding the preparations of the elections in a power point presentation.
