Expert lecture on agricultural engineering education held at SKUAST-J

JAMMU, Sept 24: The faculty of Agricultural Engineering, SKUAST-Jammu, today organized an expert lecture titled “Present and Future Prospects of Agricultural Engineering Education.”
As per a statement, Dr SN Jha, Deputy Director General (Engineering) of ICAR, delivered the expert lecture.
Dr Sushil Sharma, Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural Engineering, welcomed Dr Jha and provided an overview of the newly established faculty and its ongoing activities.
During his address to faculty and students, Dr Jha emphasized the crucial role of agricultural engineers in resource management and enhancing productivity in the face of climate change.
He discussed the future of the engineering discipline in agriculture, particularly focusing on the digitization of farming through machine learning, artificial intelligence and robotics.
Dr Jha also highlighted the inclusion of new courses related to robotics, AI and machine learning in the undergraduate program syllabi, as recently recommended by the 6th Dean Committee of ICAR.
Dr Sushil Sharma showcased the advanced equipment and machinery installed in the faculty’s various laboratories, illustrating the practical applications of agricultural engineering.
The event was attended by over fifty students and faculty members, including Dr R K Srivastava, Professor and Head of Soil and Water Engineering, Dr J P Singh, Professor and Head of the Division of Farm Machinery and Power Engineering, and Dr Sushmita M Dadhich, Associate Professor in the Division of Soil and Water Engineering.
