SAMBA, May 18: Alleging harassment by the management and non-payment of their wages, workers of Bharat Box factory today held a protest demonstration at the SIDCO complex, here today.
Raising slogans against the factory management and demanding justice, they also staged a dharna seeking redressal of their grievances. They were demanding wages, overtime and conducive working conditions etc. The protesters included women.
They alleged that the management and contractor were forcing them to work overtime without paying extra while their wages had also not been paid. They also claimed that the factory management was planning to close down the unit secretly.
The protest demonstration was also addressed by the trade union leaders who warned to intensify their stir if no action is taken over their demands. Those who addressed included Balbir, Sukhdev, Sham Lal and others.
Later, the Incharge Police Post SIDCO pacified the protesting workers and assured that the matter would be resolved amicably with the management.
