JAMMU, Apr 30: An apparent accident turned out to be faked one as Ramban Police arrested driver of the truck, which was found abandoned and stuck with a parapet on the National Highway near Seri land slide area at Ramban.

According to police, the accused Karmvir Singh of Preet Nagar Digiana loaded 15 tons of TMT bars from Kashmir Rolling Steel Mill Bari Brahmana on the intervening night of April 10-11 for its transportation to Kashmir in his truck number 4827-JK14B. However, instead of proceeding to Kashmir, he straight way went to Chatha area and unloaded about 100 Qtls of bars there in connivance with one Sandeep of Indira Nagar Miran Sahib.
With the remaining consignment of 50 Qtls in the truck, the accused moved towards Srinagar on April 17 and reached Ramban area where he attempted to throw the loaded vehicle into Chenab river after jumping himself out of the driver’s cabin. However, the truck stopped with a parfait and its engine also got switched off.
