Family members, relatives of deceased youth hold protest against Snooker Club

JAMMU, Jan 20: Family members and relatives of a youth, who was found hanging in a hotel at Pathankote on January 15, held protest against the Snooker Club at Sector 8 Nanak Nagar for promoting gambling and sought action against them.
As per police sources, on January 13 this year, a complaint was lodged by Kulbhushan Sharma of Sector 8 Nanak Nagar with Police Station Gandhi Nagar stating that his son namely Kunal Sharma went missing.
Acting over the complaint, a missing report was lodged in the DD of Gandhi Nagar Police Station and hunt was launched to trace out the missing youth.
“The youth was found hanging in a hotel room at Pathankote on January 15 and accordingly a case was registered at Police Station Division Number 2 Pathankote”, sources said, adding that after completing legal and medical formalities, the body of the deceased was brought to his native area.
As the news regarding death of the youth spread, the relatives of the deceased along with his family members held protest outside the Snooker Club at Sector 8 Nanak Nagar alleging promotion of gambling in the Club.
The family members alleged that the gambling is at galore in this Snooker Club and demanded immediate action against the owner of the Club.
After getting information, senior police officials rushed to the spot and assured the protestors of conducting fair and impartial probe into the incident. On the assurance, the protestors dispersed.
When contacted, SHO Gandhi Nagar Inspector Sunil Singh Jasrotia said that the Snooker Club has been closed by its owner.
“We will collect CCTV footage to ascertain the activities including alleged gambling going on in the Club”, he added.
