SAMBA, Apr 11: The farmers of Tehsil Ramgarh held a protest demonstration demanding immediate relief for their crops, damaged due to heavy rain in the region.
The farmers protest was led by S Manjit Singh ex-Minister/MLA who highlighted the demands of the farmers falling in jurisdiction of Tehsil Ramgarh, who had assembled for their basic genuine demands which were later presented to Tehsildar, Ramgarh in shape of memorandum forwarding to Chief Minister with the hope of an early redressal.
The memorandum called for providing compensation @ Rs 2000/- per kanal, providing the financial assistance/compensation for fodder for animals, free rations to affected farmers till the production of next crops, remission of electricity bills both for residential and pump-sets and waiving off loans obtained by the farmers under KCC schemes.
Other demands like providing the financial compensation to the family of social classes who are dependent on farming and earn their livelihood and providing financial assistance to restore/repair the pump sets and its allied assets.
The farmers of village Barota, Kajyal Khurd, Chak Parthyal, Chalwal Kamore, Kamore Camp and other adjoining areas were present during the protest demonstration.
