MENDHAR, Jan 1: Farmers from the area lodged their protest against the shortage/ non-availability of seeds and fertilizers in the area during an exhibition cum-Kissan Mela organized by Agriculture Department here today.
A large number of farmers thronged the Mela and during the inaugural occasion, the farmers held protest in front of Chief Agriculture Officer Poonch and other officials. They alleged that there was no fun of organizing mere exhibitions, when the department is unable to meet the basic needs of the farming community including seeds and fertilizers.
They also brought to the notice of non-payment of Rs 25,000 to the widow of Balakote area whose premises was used as store by department. The CAO however, assured the agitating farmers to look into the matter and improve the supply of seeds and fertilizers.
