Farmers seek irrigation water

JAMMU, May 21: The farmers of RS Pura and Bishnah tehsils have voiced concern over denial of irrigation water in several villages of the two tehsils despite construction of small tributaries by the Command office.
In a statement, the farmers, represented by Kissan leader Subash Chander Dasgotra, said the farmers have been deprived of irrigation water, which was not released in the tributaries or it was not reaching there due to dump of waster in the canal.
They appealed to the Irrigation Department to direct the concerned officials to take all possible measures for cleaning the canal and release of water in tributaries to various villages so that the farmers are benefited and are in a position to cultivate their crops.
The farmers hoped that the Irrigation Department would act immediately to ensure irrigation water to the farmers.
