JAMMU, Aug 6: A meeting of Food and Allied Workers’ Union (FAWU), Jammu, was held here under the chairmanship of its president, Bishan Dass to discuss the problems being faced by the employees.
The meeting was attended by the representatives of the workers from all Muffasil Depots of the Jammu Province, wherein the participants discussed in detail the burning problems of the workers.
The meeting criticized the officials of the CA&PD for being negligent towards the problems of the poor workers of the department. The representatives alleged that the wages of the workers are not being released on time by the department. They are being paid their wages after a gap of 5-6 months due to which they have to face many hardships to feed their families, they added.
The speakers further alleged that amount of provident fund and ESI, which is deducted on monthly basis from their wages, is not being deposited by the concerned officials with the concerned departments due to which the workers are deprived of the benefits extended by these departments.
The representatives said that whenever a worker goes for any treatment in the nearby ESI dispensary, they are told that their installment of ESI has not been deposited and hence they cannot be given treatment. In the same way, the workers are also deprived of provident fund benefits, they added.
The meeting warned the concerned officials of the Department to mend their ways and mitigate the sufferings of poor workers otherwise they would be compelled to resort to other lawful action against the erring officials.
