Srinagar, May 2: FCS&CA’s Enforcement Squad today conducted market checking in various areas of Srinagar, and during the action, over 1 lakh 60 thousand rupees as fine from the erring traders, besides sealing 2 shops.
The drive was carried out under the leadership of Director FCS&CA Abdul Salam Mir along with Assistant Director Enforcement Kashmir Mushtaq Ahmad Wani.
The areas where the market checking was conducted include Residency Road, Rawalpora, Mahraj Bazar, H.S.H Street, Nishat, Shalimar, Harwan, Theed, Brain, Boulevard road, Soura, Qammerwari, Shalteng, Lal Bazar, Bota Kadal and Dargah.
“The checking was aimed at to ensure availability of quality products & to curb black marketing, profiteering of essential commodities. During market checking 94 business establishments were inspected & a penal sum of rupees 163,300 (one lakh sixty-three thousand and three hundred only) has been collected as a fine from 36 erring shopkeepers for violation of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955,” officials said.
The team also interacted with the consumers and the complaints received have been solved on spot.
“The people have been asked to co-operate with the enforcement team for lodging their complaints. Moreover, the erring lot has been reprimanded to remain careful in future.”
