Fearing rout in polls NC-Cong Coalition on looting mission: Karra

Excelsior Correspondent
SRINAGAR, Oct 26: Urging the Election Commission of India (ECI) to prevent implementation of the transfer orders issued by the Jammu and Kashmir Government, senior PDP leader and Member Parliament, Tariq Hameed Karra today said affecting transfers in administration on the day on which Model Code of Conduct (MCC) came into effect for the Assembly elections is not only unethical but a brazen violation of the ECI guidelines.
Addressing road-shows in Batamaloo Assembly segment here, Mr Karra said even the State’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) has objected to these transfers made by the Government around the announcement of the poll schedule by ECI.
“There are reports that most of these transfers have been made purely on political and monetary considerations,” he said and added that having miserably failed on every count during the past six years of its disastrous rule, the functionaries of the NC–Congress Coalition Government are now on a looting spree in their last days in the Government.
Mr Karra said there are even reports that large-scale backdoor appointments are being made in various departments by the present Government and these political malpractices have started brewing a strong wave of unrest and resentment among the educated unemployed youth.
He said unemployment is one of the touchiest issues in the State and a major concern of the society and such malpractices will have a disastrous fall-out for the already rotten NC-Cong Government. “Unfortunately, resumption of the alleged unholy practice of providing jobs on political and other considerations has started brewing severe unrest in various sections of the society shattering the public confidence,” he said and added that growing cynicism and helplessness especially among the youth, has the potential of refueling the resurgent wave of resentment and alienation.
Mr Karra said having suffered immensely during the past six years of worst ever regime in the State, the people are eagerly looking forward towards change so that the political and economic initiatives aimed at bringing peace and prosperity to Jammu and Kashmir are put back on the track.
Mr Karra said there is now no place for exploitative and emotional politicking and only those politicians would survive the public onslaught, who have the capacity, conviction and consistency to deliver.
