REASI, Mar 9: District level Inter-School Fencing Championship for all age groups boys and girls, organised by Youth Services and Sports, commenced at Indoor Stadium Mari, here today.
DYSSO Udhampur and Reasi, Swarn Singh was the chief guest who declared open the championship in presence of officials of the department concerned. He applauded the participants and audience and wished best of luck for the event.
In foil event under-17 boys, Ayush Kotwal, Aditya Thakur and Bhanupartap bagged top three medals respectively, while in epee, Sohit Thakur and Rohit Thakur won gold and silver, while Vansh Sharma and Rinku Manhas shared bronze medal and in sabre, two top medals were secured by Sushant Kumar and Sunil Roy, while Devinder Singh and Rohit Kumar shared bronze.
In epee under-17 girls, Muskan and Janvi Rajput got gold and silver medals respectively, while in foil, Sneha Sharma won gold and in sabre, the gold medal was won by Simran Devi, besides in foil under-19 boys, Shagun, Rahil won gold and silver, while Suresh and Brijesh settled for bronze medal, while in epee, Nazakat Hussain got gold medal, Sohit Thakur won silver and Rohit and Gurchain shared bronze medal and in sabre, gold and silver were clinched by Goutam and Shagun, while Rahil and Shubam shared bronze medal.
In epee girl’s under-19, Preeti Devi won gold medal.
The matches were officiated by Ashok Kumari, Rajni Devi, Sanjay Kumar, Jaswant Singh, Jugal Kumar, Asha Devi, Mohd Raiz, Madhu Rani and others.
