Feroz reviews functioning of JAKEDA

JAMMU, Feb 13: The Jammu & Kashmir Energy Development Agency (JAKEDA) of the Department of Science and Technology has allotted six micro hydel power projects with a cumulative capacity of 9.95 MW   under Independent Power Producer (IPP) basis.
The six micro hydro power projects have been taken up under the first phase among the 68 identified projects across the State for which the department has already prepared the Detailed Project Reports (DPRs).
Among the proposed projects being taken up immediately, 2 are in Jammu region and 4 in Kashmir region.
The department has also distributed 56769 Solar Home Lights among the people of 244 villages and 15 hamlets of 16 districts of the State under Remote Village Electrification Programme (RVE).
This information was given today at a   meeting convened to review the functioning of JAKEDA, with the Minister of State for Science and Technology Feroz Ahmad Khan, in the chair.
Addressing the meeting, the Minister directed the JAKEDA to gear up their field functionaries and conduct survey of the areas which have not been covered as yet under various schemes of MNRE.
Mr. Feroz also asked the concerned to ensure the functioning of all service centres established in districts and training to the beneficiaries for the up keep of the installed Solar Energy systems.
The Minister directed the JAKEDA to distribute remaining 823 Solar Lanterns among the Gujjar and Bakerwals by March 15.
Earlier, Chief Executive Officer, JAKEDA Dr. P. R. Dhar and Executive Engineer Mr. Subanji Koul briefed the Minister about the activities of the Agency.
