F&ES Deptt organizes debate competition

JAMMU, Apr 21: In connection with the celebration of Fire Services Week, the Directorate of Fire and Emergency Services (J&K) organized a debate competition on the topic “To prevent fire adopt safe house keeping practices” at Fire Services Office Gandhi Nagar here today.
Director General Fire and Emergency Services, Dr. G.A. Bhat was the chief guest on the occasion.
About 25 students from different educational institutions participated in the debate competition and expressed their views on general precautions to be adopted to prevent fire incidents.
Speaking on the occasion, Director General Fire and Emergency Services said that students have a pivotal role in disseminating message of fire safety measures to avoid distractions caused due to fire incidents, adding that safe house keeping and use of appropriate electrical gadgets has paramount significance to keep away such incidents.
Students were made aware of causes of fire which usually take place due to carelessness besides they were informed about do’s and don’ts by the senior officers of the department.
Misba Mir of GGHSS Shastri Nagar was adjudged 1st, Anjali Gupta GGHSS Mubarak Mandi 2nd while Khushboo Kumari of GGHSS Shastri Nagar was declared 3rd in the debate competition.
The winners were awarded trophies, certificates and cash prize besides consolation prizes were also distributed among participants by the chief guest.
Among others, Joint Director Fire Services, R.T. Dubey, Deputy Director A.K. Wangoo besides other senior officers of the department. Teachers were also present on the occasion.
