JAMMU, July 31: Chief Judicial Magistrate Reasi Amarjeet Singh Langeh has directed SSP to file status report on missing of a person for the last two years.
A man namely Ashok Singh was working at Baradari in Reasi and on 12.06.2018 he was allegedly abducted by non-applicants from Zero Morh Talwara and accordingly application for registration of FIR was filed with the Police Post Talwara on 14.06.2018. However, no action was taken on the application following which the applicant (father of Ashok Singh) approached SSP Reasi requesting her to intervene into the matter and take appropriate action but no action was taken by SSP.
On 23.09.2019, applicant also approached IGP Jammu but nothing was done by him also and on 03.02.2020, applicant approached Lieutenant Governor of UT of J&K but again nothing was done.
After going through the application, the CJM observed, “applicant is on affidavit that police has chosen not to show its indulgence in the matter. In light of allegations as grave as pen pictured in the application, it needs to be ascertained as to what scale and extent an indulgence has been exhibited by police in the matter”.
“Law does not permit matters like one at hand to be kept in dark tunnel in a way that grates against the mandate of penal law. At this stage, nothing more needs to be said “, the court said and directed SSP to file status report.
