JAMMU, Jan 19: Principal Secretary Finance Navin K Choudhary today visited Neha Ghar and took stock of the infrastructure and other amenities available there.
Navin had a round of the Neha Ghar at Kachi Chawni, which is a Short Stay Home managed by Association for Social Health in India (ASHI) for women in distress and difficult circumstances. The Home is sponsored by Central Social Welfare Board, Union Ministry of Women and Child Development.
The Finance Secretary also interacted with the girls and women currently residing at the Home.
Vice President, ASHI Sushma Chaudhary apprised Principal Secretary Finance regarding the ongoing activities by the management and the reformative measures undertaken to make the lives of the inmates a success story, besides numerous problems and difficulties being faced in running the Home.
Navin said the organization is providing essential support services to the women and girl children in distress and providing them support for their successful rehabilitation. He assured that he will look into removing administrative bottlenecks to expedite release of allocated funds to the organization. Besides, avenues will be explored to create a healthy corpus for the organization through private-public partnership, he added.
He directed the Estates Department to undertake infrastructure maintenance works that were highlighted during his visit.
Director Estates Tassaduq Jeelani, Senior Director COAI Gopal Mittal, members of ASHI were also present including Secretary of Neha Ghar Prof Kailash Rajput, members and inmates of the Neha Ghar.
