MENDHAR, Feb 7: Devastating forest fire broke out in forward areas of Balakot sub sector in Mendhar Sub division of Poonch district today.
Official reports said that fire broke out in the forests area along LoC in Balakot this evening.
Army troops tried to douse the blaze but it continued to spread along LoC. The fire in fact started from POK side across the Line of Control. It seemed that purpose of setting fire was to facilitate infiltration of terrorists by detonating land mines on the Line of Control. Army troops are engaged in extinguishing the fire.
