JAMMU, Jan 23: After a lull of more than a week, firing again took place in Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch district last night but it was not clear whether Pakistan Army or the militants were involved in the firing.
Reports said that firing was reported in some areas of Krishna Ghati sector between 9 pm to 11 pm.
An Army spokesman, when contacted, denied any incident of firing in Krishna Ghati sector last night.
“There was no firing”, officiating Army spokesman SN Acharya said.
However, reports confirmed the firing. “It might have been resorted to by the groups of militants in their attempt to infiltrate into this side”.
The infiltration attempts, if any, were thwarted, the reports said, adding that troops conducted searches along the LoC in KG sector this morning but found no traces of infiltrators.
It may be mentioned here that after Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMOs) level talks between India and Pakistan about a week ago, no incident of firing has been reported from the LoC.
