LEH, Jan 28: The Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Leh, Advocate Tashi Gyalson flagged off the first Arunachal-Ladakh Friendship Car Rally from the NDS stadium, here today.
Among present on the occasion were Executive Councillor for Rural Deptt Tashi Namgyal Yakzee; Executive Councillor for Agriculture, Stanzin Chosphel; Additional Private Secretary to Minister of State, Youth Affairs and Sports, Govt of India, Komjum Riba; Director Sports, Govt of Arunachal Pradesh, Tadar Appa; President IFCRA, Prem Sonam; Miss Arunachal Pradesh, Tokmen Mengu; Actor from Arunachal, Taba Reema; Shah Nawaz from Ladakh Adventure Sports and participants from both Arunachal Pradesh and the Union Territory of Ladakh.
The rally is conducted by Ladakh Adventure Sports (LAS) in collaboration with the India ASEAN Friendship Car Rally Association (IFCRA) with the motive of strengthening the relationship between the Union Territory of Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh through such joint ventures and initiatives.
CEC Gyalson paid his gratitude to IFCRA for conducting this rally even in the harsh and cold climatic condition of Ladakh. He also thanked Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, Kiren Rijiju and Member Parliament Ladakh, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal for coming up with new initiatives like the ongoing Zanskar Winter Sports Festival. CEC Gyalson also congratulated all the participants of the car rally and wished them a safe and adventurous ride.
Speaking on the occasion, Komjum Riba thanked Chairman, LAHDC Leh for flagging off the rally and urged on building a strong relationship between Arunachal Pradesh and Ladakh through such initiatives in future as well.
The officials were felicitated by the organizing committee of the car rally. Later the participants were received by Sub-Divisional Magistrate Khaltsi, Tanveer Ahmad for lunch.
The car rally will reach Kargil, today and then head to Drass and pay tribute to the brave martyrs of the Indian Army at the Kargil War Memorial.
