Gulmarg, May 3: First winter games preparatory camp which was kick-started five days ago concluded today in Gulmarg ski-resort of north Kashmir. The camp was organized by Special Olympics Bharat for special athletes from Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.
According to the organizes, the probable 2017 world winter games to be held at Austria enhanced the special athletes’ performance under the expert guidance of coach Youth Services and Sports. Not only the probable coaches have sharpened their skills regarding the snow games under the watch of experts and trainers but they also enriched their technical know-how about the snow games, they said.
“The athletes’ also enjoyed the matchless beauty of top-class facilities, equipments, resources and glamour in the meadows of the Gulmarg,” said the organizers. The initiative was the joint venture of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. The athletes were presented with shawls and other athlete kits by the organizers.
On the occasion, a galaxy of personalities including State BJP president Sat Sharma, MLA Gulmarg Abbas Wani, BJP General Secretary Ashok Koul, party spokesman Khalid Jahangir, Director North Zone Cultural Centre, Patiala, Dr Rajendra, senior BJP leader Muhammad Anwar Khan, CMO Baramulla, SDPO Tangmarg Rameez Bhat and other officials from JKTDC.
The Special Olympics on the occasion felicitated Daily Excelsior photojournalist, Aabid Nabi, for covering the event and for his overall coverage of north Kashmir.
