Fitness counts when there are expectations: Ojha

HYDERABAD, Aug 10:

A regular in the Indian Test side for the past few seasons, left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha today said that he is attaching a lot of importance to fitness of late.

“I am working on my fitness. I have controlled my diet. That is the only area, I have to keep a check on, because that is what will help with extra mileage when I am tired,” Ojha told PTI after he was retained for the upcoming Test series against New Zealand.

“I have to give my best, when there are expectations fitness counts. I am trying to be more fitter, so that I continue to give my 100 per cent every time I go on to the field,” he added.

Expressing happiness over being retained in the side, Ojha said he would like to give his best.

“It’s a very important season coming up. I am looking forward to it. After  New Zealand, we have England coming up. It is a very important season,” he said.

Asked how he looked at his performance in the recent Sri Lankan series, he said: “Sri Lankan series, there were not many spinners playing. We went with fast bowlers.

“Such things happen. Ups and downs are there. I am thinking of whenever I get the next chance for the ODIs, give my best. Right now, my team and the board expects me to do well for the longer version of the game. I don’t want to disappoint them. I want to do well.” (PTI)
