JAMMU, Oct 7: Five more cases of Dengue were today reported, taking the total number of patients suffering from the vector-borne disease in Jammu region to 57.
“Five persons including two males and three females were today tested positive for Dengue virus, out of which three were from Jammu district and one each from Kathua and Udhampur districts,” Director Health Services (Jammu), Dr BS Pathania said.
He said that blood samples of over 400 persons with dengue-like symptoms have been tested so far, out of which 57 were found positive although no serious case has been reported so far.
“Majority of the patients affected with the disease who were admitted to various hospitals were discharged after successful treatment,” he added.
Dr Pathania advised the people not to store water in open utensils and allow stagnation of water in their surroundings, as stagnant water is a breeding ground for Dengue mosquitoes. He also advised the people to prevent themselves from mosquito bites.
