Srinagar, Jan 24: Female Multipurpose Workers (FMPHWs) met with Chief Secretary Arun Kumar Mehta today at the Civil Secretariat in Jammu to project their issues, and he gave their requests a patient hearing.
A delegation led by the president of the Kashmir division, Neelofar Shabir, met with the chief secretary to discuss their requests, which included eliminating pay inconsistencies and promoting FMPHWs.
“He carefully considered what we had to say and assured us that our issues would be resolved. We were delighted with his response and are hopeful that this time, our demands will be met,” Neelofar Shabir, the president of the Kashmir division, said.
She continued that they gave the Chief Secretary a presentation to inform him of the problems FMPHWs are encountering. “Our primary problems were the delay in the release of our salaries, despite the fact that we exerted all of our labour in a variety of government-run programmes,” she said, adding that they receive salaries after four to five months, which impacts their ability to maintain their homes.
She claimed that because they work with a centrally funded programme and funds are frequently delayed, they frequently experience salary delays. “We asked the administration to set up our pay from the state budget and adjust it with the money we get from the central government in the form of salaries,” she added.
She said in order for them to effectively focus on their professional tasks, the government must find a solution to the ongoing problem of delayed wage issuance as well as their promotions. “Even though we have been given assurances and nothing has happened thus far. We, however, are hopeful this time,” she said.
