KOCHI, Sept 29: Stressing the need for promoting sports from grass root level, ace cricketer and master blaster Sachin Tendulkar today disclosed that his focus would be promoting the sports at the grass root level. Launching the team anthem and Jersy of Kerala Blasters, the Indian Super Leage Football Franchise owned by the little master, he said India lacked in identifying the talented sports persons from the young age as was practice in in foreign countries.
‘I feel in many countries talents have been identified at very young age and that is something I feel we have lacked. When we identify they are teens and it is too late.’ he added.
He assuring that he and his team would strive hard for finding the talents and encourage the talents at the grass root level.
Reiterating the need for encouraging the sports and hence building a healthy nation, the master blaster said one of the main problems now the country was facing was the alarming increase of diabetic patients as the number had crossed to 62 million.
