For effective COVID care, GMC adds more doctors to 3 key Deptts

Srinagar, Aug 29: In view of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Government Medical College (GMC), Srinagar has engaged more doctors in three key departments for its associated hospitals operating in the city.
The doctors, who are non-PSC confirmed, have been engaged temporarily, initially for one year, in the departments such as Chest Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Anaesthesiology, and at the same time have been asked to report to their concerned departments immediately keeping in view the pandemic.
“In anticipation of Selection Committee, due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the following (non-PSC) doctors are engaged as Registrar/ Demonstrator in the Department shown against each initially for a period of one year which is extendable up to (03) years based on a good performance to be certified by the concerned HOD,” reads the official communication issued in this regard.
The doctors who have been engaged in Chest Medicine include Dr Naeem Firdouse (DNB), Dr Zubair Ahmad Thoker (DM) and Dr Hena Mustafa (DNB), while Dr Tahira Khazar (MS) and Dr Masrath Quyoom (MS) have been engaged in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology
On the other side, 9 doctors that include Dr Adnan Qadri (MD), Dr Farah Mushtaq (MD), Dr Umar Jan (MD), Dr Shiekh Ubaid Ahmad (DNB), Dr Gowher Hameed (MD), Dr Syed Mohmmad Taha (MD), Dr Sumeera Fayaz (MD), Dr Zoya Sehar (MD) and Dr Rashid Javad Fazli (MD) have been engaged in the Department of Anaesthesiology which is termed as the key department for the care and management of the COVID-19 patients.
The GMC stated that the tenure appointment of these NPSC doctors is purely on an academic arrangement basis and will be governed by the rules and regulations as envisaged in SO. 364 of 2020 Dated. 27-11-2020.
The communication has stated that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the appointee is required to join within (07) days from the date of issuance of this order failing which the order shall be deemed to have cancelled.
“The selected candidate is supposed to submit her joining report in the office of the Registrar Academics, Government Medical College, Srinagar before they will be directed to report to the concerned Department; the Registrar appointed on Academic Arrangement basis shall be paid as per S.0. 364 of 2020 Dated. 27-11-2020,” GMC stated.
