REASI, May 28: In first of its kind institutional initiative in the State, District Development Commissioner Reasi, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary has formulated a plan for establishment of camp offices at Mahore and Katra in order to provide better administration at local level and address specific needs of ignored areas.
People from remote areas of Arnas and Mahore blocks have been facing a lot of problems related to essential supplies and connectivity due to tough terrain. In order to provide better administration in these areas a need was felt that Deputy Commissioner should make frequent tours of these areas for ensuring equitable development of all the areas in these remote blocks. Accordingly an institutional arrangement has been finalised for establishment of camp office for better service delivery and effective grievance redressal.
A number of deputations from Katra had also expressed resentment over the area being ignored and sufficient steps not taken for civic amenities. A number of issues related to general demands of public, Mata Vishno Devi Shrine Board, Katra Development Authority and Municipal body are also pending since long and to address these issues and ensure a long term development of the area it has been decided that camp office of Deputy Commissioner will also be made operational in Katra.
The camp office at Mahore and Katra will be made functional this year following which Deputy Commissioner will issue detailed schedule of availability in these offices along with all the officers of concerned block as well as essential services.
Meanwhile, the DDC has directed for shifting of headquarter of one Tehsildar from Reasi to Katra to act as Nodal Officer for public grievances and coordination between various departments. Proposals have also been moved for establishment of Kendriya Vidalaya, Library and Solid Waste Management Facility at Katra. In another proposal submitted to Government it has been proposed to establish a post of Additional District Magistrate / Sub-Divisional Magistrate at Katra as at present Katra does not have a senior officer stationed there.
Moreover, the Postal Department has been roped in for distribution of scholarships and pensions at their door steps inteading making rounds of banks for days together.
