JAMMU, July 5: A meeting of more than thirty members of Forum of Recognized Colleges of Education (FORCE) was held here today under the chairmanship of Sardar Harbans Singh, President FORCE, to discuss the functioning of the Colleges of Education affiliated to the University of Jammu and located in Jammu Province.
The members discussed in depth the issues and problems faced by the Colleges of Education, especially after the reorganisation of J&K State into a UT and the applicability of NCTE rules in J&K UT.
Prominent among those, who attended the meeting, included R S Chib, Former Minister; Ram Paul, former Minister; Kanta Andotra, former MLA and Kamal Gupta, a senior educationist.
The members also took exception to a news item appearing in press, according to which some members of FORCE have tried to form a separate body. All participating members described that action as an act of indiscipline and an effort to destabilize FORCE, which was condemned by them unanimously.
The members in the meeting alleged that the decision was taken by them in isolation without consulting the senior leadership of FORCE and which amounted to damaging the prestige and image of FORCE.
A resolution to this effect was passed unanimously in favour of S Harbans Singh who was requested by all the members to continue as the President of FORCE. All the members expressed their confidence in the presidentship of Sardar Harbans Singh and authorized him to reconstitute the executive body of FORCE. They also warned those elements who are trying to tarnish the image of FORCE.
S Harbans Singh was requested by all the signatories of the resolution to forward a copy of this decision to the NCTE, Department of Higher Education J&K, UT and Jammu University for their information.
The meeting ended with a vote of thanks by Pankaj Dogra, Chairman, Surya College of Education, Kathua. Proceedings of the meeting were conducted by Ashok Khajuria, Director, Bhartiya College of Education, Udhampur and S Manmeet Singh, Chairman, Ranjit College of Education, Jammu.
