JAMMU, Sept 24: An employee of Forest Department was killed today in a road accident at Canal Head, Jammu.
According to a police official, a bike borne man namely Gurpreet Singh son of Harnam Singh, resident of Simbal Camp, who was allegedly a Forest Department employee, was hit and killed on the spot by a truck bearing registration number JK02W-7073 at Canal Head on Jammu-Akhnoor Road.
“The mishap occurred this afternoon when the man was travelling on his bike bearing registration number JK02AQ-6355,” the official said, adding, after getting conducted postmortem at Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites.
He said that a case in this connection was registered under relevant sections at police station Nowabad and the accused truck driver namely Puran Dass son of Vass Dev, resident of Sunderbani, was arrested and both the vehicles involved in the mishap were seized.
