MENDHAR, June 2: A major fire broke out along the Line of Control (LoC) in Mendhar Sub Division of Poonch this evening.
Defence sources said that fire which started from the PoK side spread on this side of the fencing and covered about 2 to 3 sq kms of area including Langiot, Goi and Deri Dabsi villages. There was thick smoke and high flames being seen from the distance along the LoC. Alert was sounded at the adjoining Indian posts.
The Army suspected it as strategy of Pakistan to push some militants to this side taking cover of smoke and fire. They said that dozens of mines also exploded along the LoC with the fire creating panic in the border area.
