JAMMU, May 21: Demanding regularization of land, Former Minister Sukhnandan Choudhary and Sarpanch Jyoti Motan condemned the anti-encroachment drive carried out by the Jammu Development Authority (JDA) at Village Chak Sardar Attar Singh yesterday along with strong contingent of police cops.
Addressing a press conference, Former Minister Sukhnandan Choudhary said that the people residing on the JDA land at village Chak Sardar Attar Singh are not land grabbers. The people are land protectors who saved land for last five decades by cultivating it.
“Land grabbers are those who sold Nanak Nagar, Belicharana, Bathindi and other areas and also those who sold forest land. Those who were backing anti-encroachment drive are the main supporters of the land grabbers in Jammu and Kashmir”, he saiud
We are not against JDA but they should also retrieve the land from encroachers who grabbed land of Tawi River, he said, adding JDA don’t have the courage to vacate the lands grabbed by the land grabbers.
“The land on which JDA carried out anti-encroachment drive yesterday should be regularized at par with Nanak Nagar, parts of Bathindi, etc”, he demanded and said that people are ready to pay compensation for getting their lands regularized in village Chak Sardar Attar Singh.
Interacting with media persons, Sarpanch Jyoti Motan said that Jammu Development Authority deliberately targeted poor people without serving any legal notice.
“Where was JDA for the past 50 years. JDA suddenly came for demarcation of the area and where these poor people will go now,” she asked to JDA.
Slamming police approach, she also said police officials misbehaved with her as well as other females who dared to ask questions to Police and other officials.
She added that keeping in view of the need of poor people, this land should be regularized as people are ready to pay compensation to JDA like others regularized areas.
