Srinagar, Dec18: Former Ranji players today held protest demonstration against J&K Cricket Association (JKCA) for holding important positions of the Association by non-cricketers and alleged that professionals are being set aside for no reasons.
They allegedly said that the non-professionals were deciding for the JKCA while that the selectors who were deciding the fate of the players were not even qualified to that.
They said that Abid Nabi who has immensely contributed to the game in J&K was not allowed to enter the JKCA Stadium on Thursday after he was not selected.
“He was not allowed to enter the JKCA Stadium; it has happened to him and can happen to us tomorrow; there is no discipline in the JKCA,” Majid Yaqoob Dar a former Ranji player said.
On the occasion, cricketer Abid Nabi was also present among the protestors who said: “I had gone to ask them why was not I selected, I was stopped by the guards. No one gave me the reasons.”
He said that he has played Ranji at 17 and after 10 years they cannot put me out by saying that I have aged. “I have played Ranji at 17. Look at my performance and select me on that basis not like whatever you want,” he said.
He said that the elections for the District Association were held in one day pointing towards the mismanagement. He also said that the selectors of the JKCA are not even qualified. “The JKCA has become J&K Pervaiz Rasool Association as he takes all the decisions,” he added.
