SRINAGAR : A fresh weather warning has been issued in avalanche-prone areas in central Kashmir district of Ganderbal following prediction of snowfall during the next 48 hours.
An official spokesperson here today said the district administration Ganderbal has issued an avalanche warning in upper reaches in the district.
He said the avalanche warning has been issued in Kangan sub-division, particularly from Gund to Sonamarg and Tehsil Lar, Watlar, Waliwar, Chountiwaliwar, Chathangulabpora.
The spokesperson said that under the influence of Western Disturbances, moderate and heavy rain or snowfall is likely to occur in higher reaches of the State.
He said people have been advised not to venture out in avalanche prone areas. However, in case of any emergency, people are advised to take extra precautions to avoid any incident.
During snowfall, people have also been advised to temporarily evacuate those locations which are under fall line of avalanches. (AGENCIES)
