JAMMU, Mar 1: Defeating Shakti Nagar Cricket Club by a big margin of 29 runs in the summit clash, Friends Cricket Club won the title trophy of Jammu District Tennis Ball Cricket Championship, organized by Jammu District Tennis Ball Cricket Association at Green Fields ground, Gandhi Nagar, here today.
District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Jammu, Sukhdev Raj Sharma was the chief guest on the valedictory function, who distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up teams. The chief guest was accompanied by Rattan Lal Sharma from the Department of Youth Servicers and Sports.
Earlier, batting first, Friends Cricket Club scored a decent total of 56 runs in the stipulated 6 overs by losing 4 wickets. Mohd Younis top scored with 23 runs, while Zahoor contributed 15 runs to the total.
In reply, Shakti Nagar Cricket Club bundled out for 27 runs to lose the match by 29 runs. Sahil Badyal was the top scorer with 17 runs. Zahoor was the pick of the bowlers, who scalped 5 important wickets for Friends Cricket Club.
In the semifinals played earlier, Shakti Nagar Cricket Club defeated Channi Himmat Cricket Club by 7 wickets, while Friends Cricket Club got better of Malik Cricket Club by 6 runs.
Zahoor was adjudged as man of the match, while Mohd Younis was declared as the best batsman.
