Fulfilling people’s aspirations remained top priority of Govt: Sagar, Jora

SRINAGAR, Aug 28: Maintaining that fulfilling people’s aspirations and demands have remained among top priorities of present Government, the Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Ali Mohammad Sagar today said that last about six years of Omar Abdullah led Government has given focused attention for the development of Srinagar city and restoration of its pristine glory and its historicity.
The Minister was addressing a large gathering after inaugurating Sheikh Hamza Makhdoom (RA) Community Facilitation Centre at Makhdoom Sahib here today. The Minister for Urban Development and Urban Local Bodies, Nawang Rigzin Jora was also present on the occasion.
Vice Chairman Muslim Wakaf Board, Prof M.Y Qadri, Salman Sagar, Mohammad Syed Akhoon, besides Commissioner Secretary, Urban Development and Urban Local Bodies, Satish Nehru, Commissioner SMC, Dr G.N Qasba, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Farooq Ahmad Shah, SSP Srinagar, Amit Kumar and other concerned officers were present on the occasion.
The Community Center has been constructed at a cost of Rs 1.5 crore by joint funding of Srinagar Municipal Corporation and District plan.
Mr Sagar said Community Centre will prove very useful for the people living in this congested area during the marriage ceremonies and other social functions. He said it was long pending demand of people and now onwards they can avail the facilities of the centre.
The Minister said that government has laid a vast network of community centres in Srinagar to provide better civic and social services to the people. He also said various prestigious projects are under way for the development and beautification of Srinagar city to make Srinagar a model city.
While taking strong notice of increasing drug menace in the area Mr Sagar stressed upon the district police authorities to take immediate and necessary steps for uprooting this menace from the area, so that people do not face any difficulty.
Speaking on the occasion, Urban Development Minister, Jora said Government is always keen to provided better civic facilities to the people and number of projects including construction of STP’s, Community centres,  improved sanitation and cleanliness of environment have been prioritized by the present Government. He said a project will be formulated for the rehabilitation of inhabitants of this area also.
