Functions organised to celebrate Christmas in Jammu

JAMMU, Dec 24: Various education institutions celebrated Christmas by holding colourful programmes in their school premises in the region today.
Shiksha Niketan Senior Secondary School Jeevan Nagar organized ‘Christmas Carnival’ in the School premises, wherein Harjeet Singh, Tehsildar Jammu South along with the Principal Rameshwar Mengi and others were present. During the function, a student disguised as Santa Claus was carrying a bag containing sweets and he was roaming around to distribute sweets and gifts among students.
The Christmas function was also organised at Dewan Devi Play Way /Higher Secondary School Rajpura to celebrate the Day with great enthusiasm. The students attired in Santa Claus dresses and distributed sweets and chocolates among the students, followed by a cake cutting ceremony organised by the staff and students.
May Fair Schools Chand Nagar and Chinore branches celebrated Christmas function wherein the Schools wore a festive look with bells, streamers and a beautifully decorated Christmas tree. Several activities such as decorating Christmas, making Christmas cards and Hand-crafted bells were organized for the students. The children were told about the birth of Lord Jesus and the legend of Santa Claus.
DPS Udhampur celebrated Christmas by holding an inter-house western dance competition and flower arrangement competition by spreading the message of love and joy among the children. The Secret Santa donation drive was also organised to bring happiness and to illuminate the lives of the underprivileged section of the society and students learnt the real value of Christmas by donating winter wear to the fellow Indians.
The holy festival of Christmas with joy and excitement was also celebrated at Rich Harvest. The School campus wore a festive look with aesthetically decorated Christmas trees, balloons and buntings, while the tiny tots dressed up as Santas and Angels personified the spirit of Christmas during the special assembly wherein they showcased their talents while presenting a Nativity play, singing of Carols and scintillating dance performances.
A Christmas event was organized at Shiv Shakti Public School Devipur in school campus .The programme was replete with messages, carol songs, a play on the life and times of Jesus Christ and other talks and presentations to provide pep to the religious, celebratory spirit of joy. SDPO Akhnoor Mohan Sharma was the chief guest of the event.
Minerva Public School, Barnoti celebrated Christmas and conveyed the message of love, tolerance and brotherhood among the students by holding a function in the School premises, wherein students organised a plethora of activities.
Dogra Higher Secondary School Shastri Nagar celebrated Christmas Day under the supervision of Devinder Kour, School Principal. The Managing Director, Gambhir Dev Singh Charak in his brief speech asked one and all to spread the message of Jesus Christ who laid his life for truth, peace and love to eradicate the miseries of life.
The Christmas celebration was organised at IDPS with full joy and enthusiasm. The IDPS wore a festive look with bells, streamers and a beautifully decorated Christmas tree during the special assembly, wherein students performed various cultural activities.
The Christmas festival was also organised at Bal Bharti School Channi Himmat with enthusiasm wherein the students were dressed up as Santa and they distributed gifts and sweets among the children during the event.
