JAMMU, Jan 4: President Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee, GA Mir as chief guest launched the 1st Football Academy in Jammu in an impressive function, organized by Jammu United Football Club at Press Club, here today.
Mr. Mir apart from launching first Footbal Academy in Jammu, also launched its Membership Drive. Speaking on the occasion, he said that youth of J&K are strong enough to compete in any game including football but due to lack of facilities, they are not in a position to compete the best.
PCC President lauded the efforts of Narinder Gupta, chairman of United Football Club and his colleagues for setting up of first ever Football Academy which will go a long way to attract youth towards games, especially football which unquestionably is the most popular game in the world. He said, it will also help the youth to remain away from bad habits including drugs etc.
Narinder Gupta said that he himself is a football player and wants to encourage the youth towards Football game and that is why he took the initiative of setting up the Football Academy at GM Science College Ground, Jammu.
He said the Academy will provide all sorts of facilities to interested youth free of cost.
Other members of the Clubs present were S. Amerjit Singh, Sadesh Sharma, Asok Kumar, Pravez Iqbal Mir, Ankush Gupta, Manohar Babber, Vijay Kumar, Suresh Gujpta, Mukesh Kumar, Ramesh Kumar, Rajinder Kumar, Rajesh Sambyal and Chetan Sharma(CA).
