JAMMU, July 10: Member Legislative Assembly (MLA) RS Pura Dr Gagan Bhagat convened a meeting to review the prevailing power crisis situation in RS Pura constituency.
Senior officers of the Power Development Department (PDD) and sub-district administration were present along with the prominent people of R S Pura.
Dr Gagan said that was certainly some sort of laxity being practiced by the PDD in the past, but now there should be no problem as funds are continuously flowing from centre especially for the essential and emergency services.
He took a detailed report regarding the funds granted under various heads to PDD and also inquired about the status of RAPDRP works done by the EMC in R.S Pura town and Kullian feeder.
MLA was apprised that a total of thirty seven distribution transformers will be connected through cable network to minimize the load in RS Pura Town and adjoining villages which will increase the efficiency of the other feeders, besides substantial decrease in unscheduled cuts and will also check the power pilferage in the areas.
The senior officers of the PDD assured the legislator that the RAPDRP works will be completed in the month of August and the 10 MVA station at Kullian will be started before August 15.
Dr Gagan further directed the department to be more vigilant during these three months of humidity as these are only days when the people of Jammu region face problem regarding power curtailment and unscheduled cuts.
