GANDERBAL, Oct 30: Police today said it organized a seven day long Sports Festival under Civil Action Programme which was inaugurated by Deputy Inspector General of Police Ghulam Hassan Bhat at Sanik School in Ganderbal district.
In the sports festival, games including Tug of War, Volley Ball, Football etc will be played and about 600 participants are participating, a police spokesman said. Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal Piyush Sinngla, SSP Ganderbal Fayaz Ahmad Lone, Commanding Officer of 5 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), Principal of Government College of Physical Education Dr Hartej and other district officers, besides various prominent personalities and senior citizens were also present on the occasion.
While speaking on the occasion, DIG Bhat said that these sports festivals are being organized to provide a platform to the youth of the state to nurture their talent and channelize their energy in positive direction. He said that Jammu and Kashmir police is organizing such programmes to encourage the sports culture in the State.
