Gandhian Ideology promotes peace, harmony: Sangeeta Gupta

JAMMU, Nov 10: The Principal Commissioner of Income Tax, Sangeeta Gupta felicitated NSS volunteers of Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, for promoting Gandhian ideology in a brief function held at Income Tax office.
Sangeeta felicitated Deepanjli Slathia, Ruqiya Qazi and Sabha Sarwar Mir, the winners who bagged all three 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes in an inter-college symposium on Gandhian Ideology of Peace and Non-violence organized by Gandhi Global Family (GGF), recently.
While felicitating NSS Volunteers with a Medal depicting UN-GGF logos and a symbolic spinning wheel especially brought from Sabarmati Ashrum.
Mr Gupta said that Gandhian ideology promotes peace and harmony. She expressed her hopes that youth and students can serve as true ambassadors of peace and harmony in society while complying the ideals of Gandhian ideology of peace and non-violence which is becoming so relevant by every passing day.
President of Gandhi Global Family, J&K, Padamashri SP Varma, while speaking on occasion upheld the young Gandhians for promoting ideology of peace, non-violence, greater tolerance, harmony, mutual respect and understanding among communities for a better India and better world at large.
Mr Varma also presented a rare photo of Mahatma Gandhi on communal harmony taken on January 18, 1948 to the Commissioner.
Principal of College, Dr Kiran Bakshi congratulated the winners and said that Gandhain ideology is solution for peace in world and students and youth can be  real change makers in this direction.
NSS Programme Officers Prof Amitpal Kour, Prof Neelam Bhagat and Dr Ashaq Malik also appreciated the students for bringing laurels to the college.
