Gang of conmen deceives two women; escapes with gold, cash

JAMMU, Nov 8: Two women including wife of a retired police cop were deceived by gang of conmen in Satwari and Gandhi Nagar areas here today.
As per police sources, a widow namely Usha Rani, wife of late Jagdish Raj, a resident of Sanjay Nagar was going somewhere and when she reached near Satwari Chowk, a ‘sorcerer’ along with his associates including a woman offered her that they would double the gold ornaments and cash with magic powers.
The widow offered him her ornaments including 2 gold bangles, 1 ring and a pair of ear rings and Rs 10,000 cash in presence of his two associates at Shiv temple near Satwari Chowk.
The sorcerer gave her a piece of cloth and asked the woman to open it at home. The woman when opened the piece of cloth at home got shocked to see two stones in it. The conman managed to escape from the spot along with the ornaments.
The woman reported the matter to Satwari police station and a case under relevant Sections has been registered and hunt to nab the sorcerer and his associates is on.
Meanwhile, wife of a retired police cop was also cheated of her ornaments by the gang of conmen in Gandhi Nagar area.
The woman identified as Vijay Kumari, wife of retd ASI Jodh Lal Khajuria, a resident of Lakar Mandi was deceived of her gold ornaments by gang of conmen in Gandhi Nagar area. The gang took away gold chain and 4 gold bangles of the woman after hypnotizing her.
Later, the woman reported the incident to Gandhi Nagar police station and police started investigation.
