JAMMU, Aug 27: Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Prakash Ganga was elected president of Jammu and Kashmir Badminton Associa-tion in its Annual General Meeting held here today.
Dr OD Sharma was elevated to the post of chairman.
Sports promoter, Balbir Singh Jamwal was elected general secretary of the Association, while Dushyant Sharma, Satish Chander, Nasir Hakim, Mohd Irfan Ullah and DV Sharma were elected vice chairmen of the Association.
Fayaz Ahmed was elected joint secretary, while Rahul Sharma as treasurer. NR Gupta was elected chairman planning and development, while DD Magotra was elected adviser of the Association. Mohd Bilal, Mohd Younus and Subash Chander were elected ex- co. members.
On the occasion, outgoing president Sudershan Singh Wazir and Secretary J&K Olympic Association, Dr Ashutosh Sharma and other senior members of J&K Badminton Association were present.
Expressing gratitude to the association members, Ganga assured them that the new team will work with zeal and dedication and embark on steps to promote Badminton as a major sport in the state. He said that positive initiatives shall be taken like improvement in infrastructure through ‘Corporate Social Responsibility’, sponsorship’s and identifying young potential players. He also added that roles and responsibilities for each Association member shall be clearly defined for productive results.
Ex- President JKBA, promised full support to the unanimously elected new President and expected that JKBA would progress under his able guidance.
