JAMMU: Minister for Industries and Commerce Chander Parkash Ganga today chaired as high level meeting to review the progress registered in the completion of procedures post Goods and Services Tax rollout in the state.
The Minister took detailed review of steps taken by the concerned departments to overcome the teething problems post implementation of the new tax regime, including awareness camps held for educating the traders, industrialists and officials and facilitating smooth switch over to the new tax regime. He also highlighted the importance of training sessions for different categories of tax payers for the effective implementation of GST.
The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary Finance Navin Choudhary, Commissioner Secretary Industries and Commerce Shailendra Kumar and officers/officials of concerned departments.
Taking stock of the ground impact of the new tax regime, the Minister asked the state commercial taxes and excise department to ensure that retailers, dealers, shopkeepers are made well aware about dealings under GST system. He said the government has taken all out efforts to create a congenial atmosphere and extend full support to promote industrial growth in the state.
“Every possible step has been taken to safeguard the interests of the industrialists under GST and appropriate action would be taken on their feedback” he reiterated. He asked the industrialists to deliberate upon the ways by which the industrialists dealing with different sectors get the benefit that they want through the new tax structure.
The meeting also reviewed the GST registrations made so far and orientation programmes held on GST Act to acquaint all stakeholders with its provisions.
