Gani lifts Battal Ballian Kesari dangal title

KATRA, June 3: Punjab Wrestler Abdul Gani of Mallekotla clinched the “5th Annual Battal Ballian Kesari title 2013” by defeating Navneet of Patiala in the 1st malli bout that lasted for 23 minutes at Battal in Udhampur.
The event was organized by Pir Baba Dangal Committee Battal Ballian in association with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, under the overall supervision of president J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma and president of the Dangal Committee Deep Singh.
Winner of the 1st Malli Wrestler Gani was awarded with handsome cash prize of Rs 36,000 along with “pata” while runner-up wrestler Navneet was given away Rs 25,000 cash prize money by NC leader Taranjeet Singh Tony, Sarpanch Makhan Lal, Shiv Kumar Sharma and Deep Singh.
52 bouts were played in this one day Vishal Dangal and an expenditure of Rs 2,00,000 has been incurred for conducting the Dangal.
NC District president Taranjeet Singh Tony was the chief guest on the occasion who gave away cash prizes to the wrestlers.
Member J&K State Sports Council and treasurer Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma presided over the function, while SSP Udhampur, Benam Tosh and BJP State vice president and senior leader, Pawan Kumar Gupta were the guests of honour.
