JAMMU, Dec 27: Gatka players from Jammu and Kashmir have brought laurels for the Union Territory as well as J&K Sports Council by winning one gold and three bronze medals in the 10th National Gatka Championship, which concluded yesterday at Punjabi University, Chandigarh.
In U-14 age group, Dilpreet Singh clinched the gold medal and adjudged best player for his fair play whereas in U-18 age group, Sahajveer Singh won bronze medal in Farri Single Soti by defeating his opponent hailing from Tamil Nadu.
Similarly, in U-25 Single Soti, J&K team won bronze medal by defeating Pondicherry in a single sided competition while in U-25 Farri Single Soti, J&K players defeated Chhattisgarh and clinched the bronze medal.
While congratulating all the participants and medal winners in particular, Secretary J&K Sports Council Nuzhat Gul said that every effort shall be made to support an individual in J&K.
