JAMMU, Aug 11: Gousia Cricket Club (GCC) Srinagar defeated Royal Women Cricket Club (RWCC), Jammu by 55 runs in the last match of the 3-match Invitational Women Cricket Cup 2012, while RWCC Jammu won the series, as it had won first two matches convincingly at Mayank Goswami Cricket Academy ground, here.
Earlier, in the third match of the series played today, GCC drubbed RWCC by a decent margin of 55 runs in an easy contest.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss, GCC Srinagar scored 135 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 30 overs. Jassi top scored with power-packed 44 runs off just 27 balls, studded with 3 fours and one six, while Rabia and Nadia scored 13 runs each and Sheraza contributed 12 runs to the total. For RWCC, Payal Choudhary was the pick of the bowlers, scalping 3 wickets by conceding 25 runs in her 5 overs, while Upasana took 2 wickets and Chitra claimed one.
In reply, RWCC Jammu bundled-out for 80 runs in 22.5 overs, thus lost the match by 55 runs. Naina was the only batswomen to impress in her unbeaten knock of 25 runs. No other batswomen could manage to cross the double figure mark. Sumaiya took 2 wickets for GCC Srinagar, while Sheraza and Kousar claimed one wicket each. 5 of the RWCC batswomen got run out. Naina of RWCC was adjudged women of the series.
Meanwhile, in the two matches played earlier, RWCC scripted emphatic wins over SCC. In the first match, RWCC trounced SCC by 51 runs. RWCC made 125 for 6 in 25 overs, while SCC managed to score 74 runs in 19.5 overs, while in another match, RWCC clinched a thrilling victory by 2 runs in a low scoring contest. RWCC scored 77 for 4 in 20 overs, while SCC scored 75 for the loss of 8 wicket in 20 overs. Rupali Salathia was coach of RWCC Jammu, while Abida Khan was coach of GCC Srinagar, while services of Dewan Anshu Verdhan were utilized as physio during the series.
Arti Thakur, SHO Women Cell was the chief guest on the valedictory function and distributed prizes among the winners and runners up teams.
