GCET Jammu, PG Deptt JU clinch Chess trophy; GDC Ramnagar wins Volleyball title

Inter-Collegiate Chess, Volleyball Championship 2023-24

JAMMU, Oct 13: In an ongoing Inter-Collegiate Chess (M&W) Championship, GCET Jammu and Post Graduate Department Jammu University won Men and Women titles here today.
In the Men’s section; GCET Jammu team beat Post Graduate Department Jammu University team by 3-1 points in the final and won the title. While Rakshit Lakhanpal of GDCET beat Abhinesh Singh (PG. Deptt), Angad Singh Bali of GCET beat Shubdeep Sharma, Archit Mohan Sharma of GCET beat Sakal Sharma, Keshav Mansotra of GCET lost to Navdeep Singh, MIET Jammu beat GDC Bhaderwah by (2.5-0.5) points and won Bronze Medal, Raghav Sharma of MIET beat Sumeer Sharma, Sheershak Sharma of MIET beat Himshekar Katoch, Tushar Pandita of MIET lost to Arjun Kumar and the match between Superb Jain of MIET & Uqaab Alam ended in a draw.
In Women’s section; PG Department Jammu University team beat GCW Udhampur by (3-1) points in the final and won the title. Manisha Mahajan of PG Department beat Unvesha Sharma, Naina Sharma of PG Department beat Kajal Devi, Sonali Manhas of PG Department beat Kiran Sharma, Isha Jamwal of PG Department lost to Bhawna Sharma, GDC Poonch team beat GDC Ramnagar by 3-1 points, Rashima Sharma of GDC Poonch beat Palvi Sharma, Ritika Verma of GDC Poonch beat Bandhna Devi, Tamina Falak of GDC Poonch beat Sloni Devi and Mussarat Nayeem of GDC Poonch lost to Nisha Devi.
Meanwhile, in Inter-Collegiate Volleyball Championship Government Degree College, Ramnagar clinched the women’s trophy. GDC Ramnagar outplayed the defending champion GCW Parade by (2-0) sets with set score (25-16, 25-18) and lifted the Inter-Collegiate Volleyball (Women) trophy.
Earlier, in semi-final matches; GCW Parade defeated GDC, Pouni by (2-0) with set score 25-16, 25-18, GDC Ramnagar defeated PG. Department by (2-0) sets with set score (25-18, 25-.11). In the third place match; PG Department beat GDC Pouni by (2-0) with a set score (25-18, 25-15. The matches were officiated by Mulkh Raj, Amit Sharma, Shubham, Anil, Buneet Singh and Manu Singh Pawar.
