Inter-Collegiate Chess

JAMMU, Sept 27: GCET Jammu and MIET Jammu entered semifinals in the men’s section of the ongoing Inter-Collegaite Chess Tournament, being organised by University of Jammu, here.
In the 1st semifinal GCET Jammu beat SPMR College of Commerce by 3-1 points and reached the final. Rohit Raina (GCET) beat Nitish Kumar; Adil drubbed Ajitesh; Dheeraj trounced Amit and Manmohan (GCET) lost to Sourav Pandey of SPMR College, while in the second semifinal, MIET Jammu beat GGM Science College by 3-1 points. Kunal (MIET) prevailed over Amit; Ashutosh beat Uday; Rajat beat Shivauin and Deepanshu (MIET) lost to Vikas (Science College)
In women’s section, In the 1st semifinal, GCW Parade beat GDC Kathua by 4-0 points and reached the final. Sonali beat Smile; Simran defeated Pratibha; Apooorva beat Roshi and Manisha trounced Sukriti, while in the 2nd semifinal of the day, GCW Udhampur beat GGZSM Degree College Reasi by 3-2 points.
The Championship is being organized by the Directorate of Sports & Phsycial Education, University of Jammu under the supervision of Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba, DirectorSports & Physical Education.
